Hi, this is a common dilema,
each horse is different, a lightly built horse (arab) compared to a QH (solid built), the QH would hold more weight. Imagine it this way.
A 14 hand horse would weigh about 350kg, depending on age, sex, breed and condition, so a 14.2 horse would weight about 400ish. A stock horse is a sturdy and durable horse, so they would weigh about 400 so long as the horse is in good condition.
A normal horse can carry 1 tenth of its weight. Some can carry less, others more. It also depends on your height and experience, your legs may be short enough to look good, but then again, they may be too long. Also, i would recomend for a beginner or a novice rider, horses smaller (in the galloway height range-are really good to build confidence, not too tall, not too small). 14 to 15 hh.
I would say a horse of about 15.2 would be a btter height, but jump on teh horse and ride it around, without using too much leg, if it responds slowly and generally has difficulty carrying the weight, then you would be too heavy. Horses are strong and they can surprise you.
Have fun and i hope the horse and you have fun for a very long time.

Depending on which style of riding you choose......ex. jumping, western reining, trail, dressage...etc....it could impact the horse. Riding the horse on the flat (no jumping, no hard use - barrel racing...etc...) your horse should do just fine. You should stick to pleasure riding and not long extended ride time. Before you start riding....it is a good idea to have your horse checked by your veterinarian to make sure his/her tendons and muscles are okay.

It pretty much depends on the build of the pony and whether its a large 14.2 or a small 14.2

a horse can comfortably hold about 25% of its body weight.
A horse at about 14hh will weigh approx 350kg.
25% is about 88kg, so i think the horse will struggle and if ridden regularly will cause problems for the pony.
I dont reccomend it.
