iTunes will often have music giveaways the trouble with downloading music for free is the fact the artist isn't making any money off the song that they would normally get to help pay for a tour.

Most everyone now uses LimeWire because it has so few restrictions just be careful what you download. You can use MP3's on an iPod even though it's primarily an AAC player you just have to transfer the files to a new directory and load them on the iPod.

Best bet is to just pay for them if 99 cents is too much to pay for a song then transfering file types is the least of your concerns. I use an iTunes prepaid card or buy the CD because i have a thing for the liner notes. Often during the winter Pepsi has a contest to win free music.

The trick is to find where the music files are located. You can do that by doing a search of your computer for a name of a song you own. You know, like start, search, that kind of thing. Then you find the exact folder all the songs are stored in and then just copy and paste them into itunes. There you go.
