you might try to get on with Norfolk Southern railroad.
I work for BNSF and have averaged over $35k so far this year (started in february at $700 per week for 15 weeks of training)
The railroad is a pretty good place to work, and can be fun if you like working outdoors, or like the railroad history... i like both.
The only bad thing is that the railroad WILL try to screw you. You have to pay union dues (about $100 per month) and it is not for everyone. It is also pretty difficult to get on.
The only other thing that I know of that makes good money is Prefsol... You travel all over the U.S, and you have to be 21 (due to rental car requirements) but you go around and install networking systems in like taco bell, mcdonalds etc when they open a new one. About 1 yr ago I met someone who worked for them, and applied, but I have a better job now... at the time, the woman I met made about $6-8k a month.

For high school graduates pursuing a college education yes.
I dont think fun should be the focus. Try income. If you want fun in a job, get training in school and then pursue it. (yeah, i know it's hard, but nothing fun comes easy after high school).

they wouldn't have to pay you to do it if it was fun.
and i like the "any more" qualifier... as though work USED to be fun, and then something changed and NOW it's a bore.
