This is all for weaning the child from breastfeeding. Even in the olden days breastfeeding a baby in public was often difficult to avoid due to the need to feed the infant. So mothers used to say the their boobs are hurt and cannot feed, but the infants would not listen. So they used to keep some leaves which give bitter taste and smell (Neem etc.) inside the bra or whatever they wore and immediately when the mother open it to feed, the child used to reject. In fact in India for weaning the child from breast feeding, mothers apply the paste of Neem leaves and they used to successfully stop the practice of breastfeeding.
Secondly as the infants grow, for feeding some other food or solids mothers used to adopt the above technique by which the child does not ask for breast milk and take other food in couple of days.

I haven't heard of that. Maybe it's the whole babies in the cabbage patch thing...
My mom said she bound her breasts to relieve the engorgement after breastfeeding. She used strips of bedsheet, but I guess you could use wraps like Yentl or like they put on those fools who let themselves be put on TV when they have boob jobs. Looks like some kind of compression bra and an Ace bandage of some sort. I don't know of any herbal remedies of that sort--I guess the cabbage leaves act as a poultice of some sort. Interesting, but I don't know about cabbage leaves per se.

i imagine you could replace them as regularly as you need. they are going to help lots to take the quite a few warmth out of them... also you may want to get an ace bandage and wrap it somewhat tightly yet no longer too tight round your chest(with or devoid of the leaves) so that you'll placed some stress on the breasts it truly is nice. i did that after I weaned my very last baby off the breast, and that i imagine it extremely helped to make the total procedure bypass swifter. only pay attention-- in case you get any brilliant streaking or flu-like indicators, like a fever or the shakes, call your accepted practitioner once you could; it really is conceivable for the ducts to boost and an infection if milk builds up and sorts a clog. i do not recommend to alarm, yet i have had that two times and it really is heavily no longer exciting... good success :)

Well, common sense tells me that A) Cabbage leaves feel cool and that lasts a bit, and B) They conform to the breast shape, also C) You can get a lot of relief from just one cabbage.
In fact, it DOES work.

That was my grannies remedy. Dont know if it ever worked. Easiest way is to get tablets from you doctor, takes about two days to work, and not so stressful or painful.
