3. Are a US citizen (born in Mexico but naturalized in US)

Sounds like a silly question, but I have heard that a US citizen cannot own property in mexico. I don't believe it.

Technically no, but there are ways you can go own land regardless of your citizenship status. The way to go about it is setting up a Fidecoismo (land trust in english). This way the land and all of its rights are owned by the legal mexican entity. Another way to go about it (best way if you ask me) is by setting up a Sociedad Anonima (corporation). While this way is slightly more complicated, it allows you to purchase as much property in Mexico as you want (as long as it is under the S.A.). The realtor you will be dealing with in Mexico should be able to set things up for you. Just keep this in mind and do not use the 99 year lease route cause then you never own the land.

I'm sure if you're a US citizen AND a Mexican citizen you can own like anyone else.Otherwise, i think the above answer would be correct.

If you are an American citizen, you can own the house but not the land. You lease the land. The land is always owned by a Mexican citizen.
