a friend has been eating baby powder since her first pregnancy, 7 years ago... its probably because of iron deficiency, but i dont think its the right alternative...

Yes, it is. She needs to go to a doctor. Pica is a psychiatric condition usually caused by a biological one. It doesn't make sense for her to still have pica seven years later, so a visit to the health clinic or family doctor is in order. Tell her it could mean something serious but easy to fix is wrong with her health so she'll go. Good luck.

No it's not the right alternative; but nothing is wrong on the other hand it's an after effect from her first pregnancy i think. when my cousin was pregnant she eats soap and after she had her child she eats it still, but not that long. don't worry about it she'll stop soon. and you should take the powder out of her reach at all times so maybe that can help to get the eating of powder off her mind.

hmm thats wierd but if a doctor says it's alright to eat baby powder for iron deficiencies then i guess it's ok

I don't know, but I recently found out it works to put in around the corners of your kitchen to keep the ants away.
