my school has a network of computers, and last year, you could use the DOS window to send net send messages to other people who are logged on. Now if i try, it says something like the message could not be sent, or net sending is no longer supported on this network. I think the computer guy disabled it or something. Is there any way to use this feature now that it is disabled? Do i have to type in a code or something? Thanks.

Sorry, the school has decided to tighten up security and that option has now been removed from unauthorized users accessing it. There is simply not a work around for this sort of configuration setup with Group Policy. If you attempt to try to force a way through the administrator will find out and you could lose your privelege to use the schools computers. So, be careful how you use them so you don't get kicked off totally. Ever since the MySpace became such an issue schools all over have really cracked down on how students can use the computers. This is a real bummer for students who just want to have a bit of fun, but not break rules or anything. There are a lot of younger kids asking if there is a way to get around blocks on MySpace here at Answers and some try to tell them to use a proxy, but it just isn't that affective and plus the kids will easily get caught. If you don't want to lose all your computer privileges then just accept these new limitations with good naturedness and do what you can do on them. Libraries are also cracking down and changing Group Polciy on those machines as well. Too bad what a few have done has to affect everybody, but that is what happens. Sorry, but you are out of luck using the Net Send DOS Program.

No

Net Send is a service that utilizes the windows network workgroup. Workgroup policies are established and changed by the system administrator and usually are not able to be bypassed
