we know that(frrom 1st link)
.999999... = 1(correct)
from the second link
1=2 (falacious)

because a= b and b= c => a =c so from above
,9999..... = 2

Hi. .999... is not =2. It's equal to 1.

I'll prove it 2 ways, first algebraically.

let N = .999...
multiply both sides by 10 and you get 10N = 9.99...

now subtract:
10N = 9.999....
-N = .999...

9N = 9 Now, divide both sides by 9 and you get N=1.
We started by saying N=.999... and performed legal moves and ended up with N=1, therefore .999... = 1.

My second way is a little more fun. Try subtracting .999... from 1.

1.000...
-.999...

(You need to cross out the 1 and put a 9 and so on.)
Since the result is 0, the numbers must be equal.

well when you have a repeating number you put that number over nine. so like with .999 9/9 =1 1.9999 repeating equals 2 .33333 repeating = 1/3
