In order to find the location of an object you need 3 points and the given distance of that object from each of these points.

Take a blank piece of paper, a pencil and a compasses (to draw circles). Draw the 3 given points, and from each point (taken as the center) draw a circle, that its diameter equals to the distance of the object from that point.

After you drew the 3 circles, find the spot in which the 3 circles intersect - and there you have it.

Hi. Pick a point and measure the angle from something (like the magnetic pole) to a distant object. Pick another spot and measure again. Draw two lines at these angles and they will intersect and form a triangle. You can solve the triangle to find the distance. This works, of course, at much closer distances, and some triangles have a right angle so you know part of the answer already.
