I was hoping to find it online somewhere. Are there any special numbers I need or will my name be sufficient?

I doubt very much you will find it on the internet. That data is closely guarded by the company.

Your best bet is to write GE a letter. Give them your name and social security number. Tell them that you think you own GE stock buy have completely lost track of it. Tell them about the time you believe you acuired it and how.

Since you received the stock as a gift, when you sell the stock you will have to pay capital gain tax on the whole proceed.

If the stock is in your name, you should have also been receiving dividents each quarter. It should be around 25 cents every 3 months.

Best wishes.

The Transfer Agent for GE is Bank of New York. You need to contact them at the following address. You should give them all the details you can about your shares including approximate date of receipt. They may also ask for your Social Security number.
The Bank of New York
General Electric Investor Services
Church Street Station
P O Box 11258
New York, NY 10286-1258

By the way, there is a chance that they may have turned your shares over to your state government as unclaimed property. Contact the Unclaimed Property Office of your state government.
