Me and some people I know have been getting IMs from someone claiming to be a ceo in Nigeria. He wants us to email him and call him. He's given us 2 phone numbers. They start with the correct country code. I cant look them up without paying $150. He wants to send us "jewelries." Im not really sure what this guy is really after. He seems to enjoy our attention whether we contact him or not. Anyone else having this happen or know what the deal is?

I wasn't aware that they have now started targeting IM users because I don't IM anyone. It sounds like this is another version of the 419(aka Nigerian) Scam. I get those types of emails all the time. They're not the exact same thing but another variation of the scam. I suggest that you block this person from IMing you and to not have any contact with them whatsoever. They're nothing but trouble.

Cease contact with this person. People in Nigeria are notorius for scamming people out of their life savings. Think about it...he doesn't even know you, why would he want to send you jewelry? He's is a scam artist....nothing more. Block his ID if you have to.

I don't bother with IM but I do get e-mails from Nigeria. It is notorious for sending out these phishing e-mails.

In Yahoo Mail, in Options, General Preferences, I have selected to display full headers in e-mails. When I get one of these (and just had one today) I select and copy the entire header and message, go to "compose," and paste in the message box. Then I send it on to a site to report abuse. Hopefully, they will shut it down.

Always remember, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Ditto....let him enjoy your company if you so desire, but do NOT send this bloke any money, nor give him too much personal information.
