apprently there are 35 types of olive, i know that green and black olives r the same just the green ones aren't properly rype. so what are the types of olives? any one know any sites that distiguish between them all?

There are some 35 species of olive trees (olea europea) in the Mediterranean region, Africa and New Zealand, and hundreds of varieties of olives worldwide, which differ in appearance, flavor and oil content. Of those that are eaten, green olives are picked when full-grown but not ripe; fully ripe olives are usually purplish-black in color and richer in oil. Therefore, don't be surprised if you see green and black olives growing on the same tree
