Actually it is if a wild bird flies into your home you have to make it go back out the same opening it came in or there will be a death in the family.

Also, if you sweep dirt out the front door you will have bad luck. If you place a hat on the bed, someone in the house will become very ill.

I had an Italian grandmother who believed all of this and I once put a hat on my bed after school and my mother got sick a few days later and ended up in the hospital. I was blamed for years.

Dead bird on your doorstep means it is time to clean the doorstep.

A dead bird on your doorstep is an indication of only ONE thing: That a bird died recently, and that the current location of it's body is your doorstep. Nothing else. Superstition is for the ignorant. Don't fall into that trap.

it means that a bird died on your doorstep.

dont believe in all this superstition crap. do you think a bird is gonna affect someone's life? think about it for a second. how do the two things have anything to do with each other? it's like me saying "because i ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it's gonna rain today." it makes no sense, and i cant control the weather. birds dont control death. think about it.

and if you ever find a dead body on your doorstep, i stand corrected.

Well, a bird was flying, didn't look both ways, got hit by a car, and got flung to your door. Or it smashed into your windows and made it's way to the door to die. Or it just smashed into the door. Or it was old. Or it had some sort of disease. Should I go on?

The only thing I can think of is that you have an animal that's displaying its affection toward you....Most likely (but not necessarily) a cat.

All it means is that the bird had an accident and died and landed on your door-step nothing more and nothing less.
