I've noticed girls whose make up is put on so good, but when they take it off you could see their real skin

A green concealer stick (it really is green, it looks like lipstick for Princess Fiona) over the red dots or spots, and then Bare Minerals makeup.
Noxema at nightime to remove it, followed by a swiping of witch hazel and a light moisturizer.

Don't use foundation, it cloggs up the skin and breaks up after a few hours making it looked caked on. I have got blotchey skin and need to cover up before I do anything! I use Boujois D'un Coup De Pinceau see http://www.bourjois.co.uk/face/concealer

It use it like on all the bits I need to cover and find it doesn't look overdone and doesn't break up later in the day as it isn't too heavy. I use a powder lightly over my face to keep my shine at bay!
