The stars are suspended in space which has no gravity and the star holds itself together with its own gravity. Also, Earth does not have a strong enough gravitational pull to pull a star towards our heads. Anyways, most stars are billions of miles away and would take billions of years to get here.

considering that, besides the sun, the closest star is about 24 TRILLION miles away, I don't think we need to worry

Because higher we go there is less air and so gravity is less and they are not absorbed by any things and so they just be there.
