OK heres the deal i work out all the time like 4 times a week and im an athlete but like all of us guys we want a six pack...now how can i do this without doing cardio because if i do cardio i wont have the same muscle growth on my muscles........trust me i know .......and secondly if i do long cardio like treadmill or the bike the it will affect my sprinting speed....my fast twitch muscles will turn into slow twitch muscles and i dont want that................so how can i get a six pack while doing crunches and working out in the weight room.........i think the only possible solutions is supersetting which burns calories but dont affect the muscle fiber speed.......or taking lean tabs.........if you have any other suggestions let me know.........i doubt im gonna get good answers though

well tim i didnt say cardio would burn my muscles i said i wouldnt grow as much and i read in a bodybuilding magazine that if your on your mass building cycle and your not growing cut down the cardio a little.........i do agree with the body fat lower than 10% your right.......and if you were right about the slow and fast twitch muscle having the same amout in the body then how come marathon runners have more slow twitch muscle fibers than an olympic sprinter.......and im not overtraining.......i do a split routine so i only work on one muscle per week........4 times a week isnt over training.......some bodybuilder do 5 times a week sometimes 2 times a day.....i think you need to read a book.......you answer was flawed.........instead of saying i dont know about exercises i think you should do on bodybuilding.com

Start by just cutting your carbohydrate intake just a little. You will still have energy to work out.Your body can convert fat to glucose through gluconeogenisis.Abs an calves are the only two muscle groups that can be trained every day.
Do sit ups, vacuums, lying leg raises, side bends and leg raises.Do abs either at the beginning of your work out or in between your work sets during your other muscle groups. This will be better than waiting til the end of your session. It's all too common for people to skip ab training if left til the end.
Rather than spending money on lean tabs, just have a big cup of black coffee and an aspirin before your work out. This will help mobilize fat into your blood stream to be used as fuel.
You can actually forgo the cardio all together.Do your big heavy compound movements at the beginning of your work out(you'll obviously need more rest in between for these) and do a much more rapid pace at the end when you do your super sets and finishing moves. This fast pace will cause cardio vascular stimulation and drive your lactic acid levels up.That's one factor in growth hormone secretion(release of lactic acid into your blood stream).
Another trick would be to use isometric exercise for your abs by flexing the hell out of them for as long as you can at the end of your work out.Don't underestimate this until you try it.You obviously already know about spot reduction being a myth so I won't go there.I hope I got everything for you.Don't forget about protein supplementation especially with the intensity of these work outs. Also, don't eat any carbs for at least 3 hours before your work out. You'll cause a rise in insulin and possibly mitigate growth hormone secretion as well as fat burning.Joe

If you eat enough, cardio won't burn your muscle just fat.For a six pack you should lift and do cardio and eat cleanly. You need to get your bodyfat below 10 percent and you will have a six pack. It's mostly about how you eat anyways. You need to talk to a personal trainer and/or a c.s.c.s. You don't understand exercise that much.fast twitch and slow twitch muscles are groups of muscles. You can't make fast ones slow or slow ones fast. Get a book and read ,you will learn lots. The only way you lose muscle is when you exercise and don't eat enough and your muscles turn catabolic which means they eat themselves instead of growing which is anabolic. Also you might be overtraining your muscles, you need proper rest. f yall

Seriously, my dear, you need to get your butt to a personal trainer. If you can't afford that, look into your local college, often they will have classes that you can take with this kind of instruction and do things right so you don't end up looking like those guys with the huge gut because they bulked up wrong when they were young and couldn't keep it up when they were older.

It's all about diet. Find a nutritionist. Often you can get to one through your health insurance if your doctor refers you. In fact, ask your doc about good personal trainers too... they may not know the good ones, but I bet they will know the bad ones! Blessings!

Diet down, baby! Prtoein, veggies, occasional whole grains and fruit. Healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil, avocados, fish. Stay away from sugar, pasta, bread, milk fats, other oils.

Abs are all about being low bodyfat, which is acheived through diet.
