You've touched on two seperate issues.
Mark Foley was quietly known to be gay by most of his House mates. It's his pedophilia that is the problem.
Barney Frank(D-Mass) is an openly gay representitive, Tammy Baldwin(D-Wis) is an open lesbian member of Congress, as is Jim Kolbe(R-Ariz).
The difference is not one of them are PEDOPHILES!
Now as far as Gay politicians voting against gay equal rights, it doesn't make sence to me.
It must be party politics and their political reputation they're more concerned with than their constituants! That's disgusting!
They work For us, but vote Against us.
They're hypocrits of the worst kind! They need to be removed from their offices as quickly as possible!

I have dabbled in local politics. The thing you must consider is that just because an elected official thinks, feels, or believes a specific way doesn't mean that that elected official can/will go against the people he/she represents. There are often more important issues than homosexual issues.
I don't know if you have noticed, but we are a very small minority. An elected official goes against 90% of the people he/she won't get elected again to continue doing everything possible to make a difference.
Just because a person is gay doesn't mean that they will be able to use his/her position to force the people of their area to accept everything we think/feel should be.
There ARE some gay people who don't think gay marriage is an important issue. Some gay people think that marriage is what straight people do.

i'm a Christian. I vote Democrat, in spite of the shown fact that i admire a number of what the eco-friendly social gathering has going for them too. I voted for Obama. i think of you're proper that folk anticipate atheists are liberal and Christians are conservative. Or that Republicans are Christians and Democrats are "godless". yet all of those communities are just to great to have one assumption prepare to all. i'm continuously a sprint stunned that Christianity is not extra linked with being liberal once you seem at how Jesus modeled treating persons. he's my kind for social justice.

Many do this to protect thier secrets about who they really are. Those individuals I can almost understand. it is those who are out and open about it voting against equal rights. I knwo a couple guys that say they would vote against gay marraiges and equal rights. I have listened to thier stupid arguements and laughed. To those who do this they deserve to be 2nd class citizens.
As in regard to Mr Foley. He has done nothing but harm the gay and lesbian community. I know I would never date him. With his past and with his current stance on the situations. It show a lack of personal morality on his part.
He has a lot to do in order to ever gain anyones acceptance.

People who are afraid of being identified as 'gay' will often do things against gay rights as a tactic to make others believe they are not gay. Its quite common.
Its called Psychological Projection - the act of projecting one's own deepest fears and feelings of inadequacy onto others, and/or subjecting others to public ridicule to avoid suspicion that you may in fact harbor the same feelings, tendancies or behaviors.

I have no respect for gay politicians who vote ANTI-gay. I have no problem with them being closeted as long as they dont legislate against gays.
I am gay, so is my oldest brother. (How is that for proof that its genetic?) My oldest brother has been in a gay relationship for 20+ years. Yet he and his lover both voted for Bush and are anti-gay marriage. I have lost a great deal of respect for both of them.

Because he feels guilty about being gay and starts believing the crap that he has a "disease" so he votes against his own people.

I think all of our elected officials should vote their conscience. If they are unable to then they should not be in office.
