I had to laugh at the person who wasn't allowed pets as a child, then went on to have loads. You think your bad? LOL, ever since I was born I was surrounded by pets. Dogs and cats, numerous rodents (hamsters, mice, gerbils) , a ferret, fish. Not to mention the injured wildlife I would bring home for my mum to repair and release. Now I am older and I have two children of my own we have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 kitten, 3 ferrets, 2 rats, a hamster, a gerbil (we did have 2 gerbils but one died the other day), and my children also have their own giant african land snails. Earlier this year we had a young jackdaw who we released back in the wild about 2 months ago- we see him (or her) on the roof opposite us every couple of days, so we know it is thriving. The point is, you don't have to miss out on having pets as a child to be animal mad as an adult!

I had a cat called Rommel that had to be put down when I was eight because she had cancer. It was all very upsetting.
I also had two fish called Cassie and Sarah that we got from the farm.
We had had stick insects for years too, which were great fun. My mates and I used to put dolls house furniture in there and be amused by the concept of them living like us. Baby stick insects are like a millimetre long when they first hatch. Trying not to throw them out with the old privet is not an easy job!
And in the continued sentiment of odd pets, I've now had my African Land snail Sandy for 8yrs.

I've always had pets. So far I've had a rabbit, guinea pig, four dogs (still got two), three cats and a pond of fish (too many too count.
But thefirst pet I can remember getting was my (now departed) King Charles Spaniel, Penny.

Yes, I had over 30 goldfish and a few fantails. Though I always wanted a small dog and a parakeet. All my fish weren't successful exept for one that lived for 2 years. I just wish that I'm allowed to have even a reptile like a snake, but I just can't. Please don't ask anymore sad questions or else you'll drive me nuts!

What didn't we have? My mom was the local Dr Doolittle. She took in every stray exotic and domestic animal in need of help. We had an owl, 2 ostrich's, goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, horses, 1 baby pig, and of course cat and dogs. Oh yeah after I moved out the got a cow.

Yes mine was the mice I use to save out of the bath when they fell in it. I had an awfull foster mother that would fill the bath with some water at night so as the mice would fall into it and drown so my sister and I would get up when we heard a splash and save them.

I had 12 hermit crabs and originally 4 fish but they had babies and I wound up with 20 some neon tetras. Then I got 4 pirranahs and still have them to this day. They are like dinosaurs. Ive had them for 14 years.

I had a Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Collie mix, and a few others. Also I had so many cats I couldn't even begin to count them all (my cat had kittens and one of those cats had kittens). And a parakeet. I've always had at least 2 pets at any given time.
