I need to learn Coldfusion, so that I can make small changes to my website. Unfortunately, I just can't find an affordable class in NYC that's longer than 3 days.
Can anyone tell me what language CF is based on? I am planning to take a programming class that might help me understand it.

It is php, mysql, html? I know html pretty well and I can't figure out CF at all by looking at the code - it's definitely different.

Also, if I learn PHP - can I make changes to my website, even though it's done completely in CF? I really have no clue and ANY help would be sooo appreciated.

thank you!

No Cold fusion is a language of it's own it's simlar to asp and php but it's not based on either. The syntax is completely different. cold fusion is easier to learn as it's more formatted than the other two.

I would suggest the books by macromedia themselves or another great site is

HTML isn't a programming language this is a markup language. Its principal intent is to outline the content material and fundamental constitution of your web page. PHP is a real programming language in contrast to HTML it might probably department centered upon the reality or falsehood of a situation and will loop in quite a lot of methods till a situation is met. HTML has no branching or looping so so much adding myself don't don't forget it a programming language. PHP can generate HTML. HTML can't generate PHP. HTML can outline the factors of a kind however can do not anything however publish that kind to the server. PHP can take what's submitted within the kind a participate in different movements like write the knowledge to the database, examine authorization and ship you to a brand new web page and so on. HTML may also be interpreted by way of your browser. PHP demands a internet server like Apache or IIS and the CGI application or the module/DLL at the server to run. To sum it up as HTML is static PHP Is Dynamic
