are we very very very gravely underestimating the effects of greed [overpay]? - are we being indulgent to greed to our great great great cost? is greed the cause of almost all violence [war and crime]? is it our indulgence of greed [overpay] that is racing us from misery to extinction? we have allowed unlimited fortunes, contrary to the wisdom of the founding fathers of america, the bible, every wise person and the lesson of history - we have unlimited overpay and unlimited underpay - pay up to million times average, and 90% of people on less than 10th of average - although [broadly speaking, in general] everyone is working - clearly getting out less than a 10th of what you put in to society is a cause of resentment - 1 in 50 people a year getting out so much less than they put in that they starving to death or getting killed in war and crime is a cause of resentment, anger, frustration, rage, hatred, fury, bitterness, madness

How about extreme repetition in language?

Seriously, I think you have it all wrong. Greed is actually one of the more honorable motivators, if you think about it. Far worse are people who are motivated by power trips, who cannot be satisfied with anything less than enslaving their fellow humans. Or sadism, which enjoys seeing people suffer. People who are honestly greedy are easy to understand and therefore to deal with.

If all they care about is money, they will be motivated to treat people fairly (or at the very least, appear to be fair) to maximize their continuing in business. Many a beautiful building has been built, invention invented, movie produced, etc., etc., etc., because someone saw big profits in it.

Oh yes, absolutely & it will eventually lead to the collapse of our entire economy. The gap between rich & poor is as wide as ever, yet, apparently our economy is doing GREAT. What this REALLY means is that the richer have gotten EXTREMELY richer. The reality in the country, of course, is that the middle class is shrinking dramatically, people are in debt more than ever before - I mean, people are buying groceries with credit cards these days.

It will eventually reach a tipping point - and the results will be catastrophic.

Unfortunately - the debate is stifled - because as soon as you remotely suggest modifications to the current system, you are instantly labeled a socialist or a commie - and - *poof* - that's the end of the debate.

Of course greed is way out of control. Why can't people just realize that material things are not that important in the grand scheme of things. We could all do with a little less than we have (well, most of us anyway). I mean, I am poor by all standards, but I am not feeling deprived because my family, friends talents, hobbies and pasttimes all make me feel tremendously wealthy. I was much wealthier until a few days ago when I had to bury my oldest sister, one of the most important things in my life.

Greed only means one thing but how a person handles greed is defined upon how they were raised(in my opinion). I am greedy to a point but harmless. I will hurt NO one to get what I want. I will not give up till I have what I want. Life is good for in this world, if you strive for something, most likely you can get it!

Not sure at all what your saying.
greed - wanting more than you deserve
overpay - getting more than you deserve
should cancel each other out.

Extinction - well um no, overpopulation yes.
