I've moved to New Zealand from Germany, and amazingly, it's a lot like Germany. I can even buy everything I liked in Germany:
Weissbier, Brezen, Weisswuerste, BMW, Mercedes, dark rye breads, and all that. And the people are a lot like the Germans, too here: a bit gruff at first, but generally mellow and well-educated. So, I couldn't say I miss any of that. But I do miss the more careful driving of Germany (Autobahn or no, they are a responsible bunch back home - the Kiwis are hair-raisingly optimistic drivers and race around like it's a Rallye), and the solid houses with the cozy central heating.

I went to school in Germany for a year and I am surprised how much I still miss certain things after 10 years.

The beer of course
Bakeries
Everything being on time all the time
That Multivitamin juice
Koffeetrinken
Some of the best tea in the world: blood orange tea is sooo good
The Autobahn
Christmas markets
Fondue at Christmas
Gluwein
The fact that Christmas is pretty much all of December
Santa Claus Day
Driving around in the Alps
Cigerette machines in the middle of no where
Generous people
Apfel Schnaps
Some of the cutest best preserved Middle Ages towns ever.

I could go on but now I am tired.

the bike paths everywhere
public transportation
hearing a language I can understand more easily
cheap flights to other parts of europe
the strong unions and respect I had as a teacher
just being in Europe!
