My coworkers cousin son has missed over 12 days since the beginning of the school year. She has been charged with criminal child neglect, all of her children have been put in foster care even the ones who are too young for school and the one who hasn't missed any school. She is allowed only supervised visits once a week. I would call that a lot of trouble. We don't live in Arkansas though so I expect the laws may be different.

Yes, the child runs the risk of truancy charges and can possibly be forced to repeat the grade, or the parents might even risk negelect charges.
You need to check with your state laws however, to be sure what penalties you can face. If there is a legitimate reason your child misses so much school, such as illness, look into home-schooling as an alternative.

I don't know about Arkansas, but in N.M., it is 5 missed absences in 30 days. Unless your child is ill. It may vary state to state. You may want to ask the school.

i dont know about Arkansas but in Ny a program called PINs (Police Intervention System) kicks in and then weekly progress reports will be submitted and if that goes sour then the child will be placed in a program where he can be properly disaplined.

it really depends on the school, and if the child doesn't complete the right amount of work or school days..look forward to summer school!
