No, IQ measures your intellectual potential. Reading a book can increase your knowledge, but cannot increase your IQ. But, you can assume that most people with higher IQ's read more books.

Don't I wish! If that were true, my IQ would be over 500 by now (and it obviously isn't)! However, I did score higher on IQ tests than my peers who could not or would not read. There is probably a correlation, but not quite 1 point per book. Reading is a great way of increasing your knowledge and understanding
On the other hand, it has been demonstrated that IQ tests geared for one ethnicity cannot measure the IQ of a different ethnicity.

Reading a book? No.
People can "make their IQ go up" (as measured by IQ tests), but reading one book wouldn't do it. (Learning to reason well, for example, would likely do this.)
But the answer right above mine [edit, no, it's several above mine: aztagansta, or something like that] has some excellent points -- educate yourself. You can understand more, and do a better job of figuring things out. It's just better.

Look, forget about IQ - it's a meaningless statistic developed in the early twentieth century by people with a very primitive understanding of human intelligence. Remember, this is a time period when women weren't even able to vote and people thought it was a good idea to prohibit the sale of alcohol. They were idiots. The idea that IQ tests measure "intelligence", or worse, "potential intelligence" (actually false, they measure your deviation from the population average) is absurd; they measure your performance on IQ tests.
Read books, it's good for you - it'll improve your vocabulary and command of language; with better diction you'll be more impressive in conversation and you'll be able to construct good essays and arguments more easily. And if you read intelligent books on fascinating subjects, you'll of course learn lots of wonderful things which will improve you in many other ways. Forget about trying to measure this improvement - what's the point?

Reading 'a' book?
No
But being a reader of books will surely broaden your knowledge base and that will help you in many ways.
Besides IQ is only about what your potential is not what you do with it!

I think that reading is just healthy no matter what type of material you read. I'm not sure if it will increase your IQ, but it doesn't hurt to try!
