My friend jogs and I don't because I say over the years she is going to have twin pancakes if she isn't careful. She says the sports bra will keep that from happening. Is she right?

Yes. Sports bras definitely work, IF you get the right kind.

When shopping for a sports/jog bra, you need to try at least 5 different kinds. Don't be afraid to bounce up and down in the dressing room. You need to get a bra that gives you the LEAST amount of bounce. This runs more true for the big-breasted runnner. The cut and material of the bra make a HUGE difference. Obviously, if the bra has thin straps and has a very open back, then you're not going to get as much support as you should get for running.

I tried on AT LEAST 8 sports bra before I finally found and bought the one I have now... the Fiona Bra by Moving Comfort. This bra is totally awesome! It is extremely comfortable. It's a no-bounce bra. It has GREAT support without the unflattering SQUASHED DOWN breasts look. The back hooks are great... no struggling to get it over the breasts. It also has adjustable straps so it gives you more of a tailored fit. I have 2 of these bras. I use them for running, spinning, pilates and weight training. This bra truly is awesome.

Here's a link to a site that sells the Fiona Bra by Moving Comfort:

This bra can also be found at specialty running stores and some sports chains. It retails for $40 and is worth every single penny.

And, no... I am in no way affiliated with Moving Comfort. I wish I was so I can get discounts! lol

PLEASE, do NOT not jog because you think that jogging causes breasts to look like pancakes.

Breasts sag naturally on their own (it's called getting old) or SOMETIMES by breastfeeding.

Go jogging! Not only will you be in great shape, but wearing a great quality and construction jog bra will keep your breasts right where they are!

Happy jogging!

the purpose of a sports bra is to lend ur body support during vigorous activity. the truth of the matter is that whether or not u end up with twin pancakes has nothing to do with whether or not u job, lol. it is what it is.
the support that the sports bra provides helps eliminate the potential back issues one may have to do the pressure exerted on the body by your breasts.
don't miss out on the opportunity to be healthy now because u r afraid of sagging later, its life its going to happen even if you stay at home for the rest of your life.

Absolutely! A good sports bra should support without compacting (or making it difficult to breath). Simply jogging or doing aerobics can make the breast mass move up & down over THREE inches! Over time, it will break down the muscles, fibers and structure of the breast making them saggy. In the short term, it will keep them from being painful (when I jog w/out a sports bra it HURTS!).

The best way to fit one is to try on several types in different sizes and jump up & down in them. I know it sounds funny, but its the way its done! The one that keeps your breasts firmly in place without feeling like its binding is the one for you. Replace them every 6-12 months, depending on how often you wear them.

Your friend is right.

You should get the right sports bra for your figure. A correct fitting sports bra is essential when you exercise. Think of your boobs flouncing every which way when you exercise. What do you think that will do to them? So, go fitted for a sports bra. There are lots of different styles and brands, so you really need to find the right one for you. The right fit for your body will make all the difference in the world. I love my sports bra when I exercise - I wouldn't do without it.

If you get the right kind!
Bigger busted women should wear the kind that criss cross in the back for added support.
My friend argued that jogging/running for a woman isn't good. WHAT? Get the right sports bra and you will be fine!
One that holds your boobs in place!
