Because this is the only choice they give us. If we had instant runoff voting, we could see the true numbers of people who would support a third party candidate as they would not fear there vote would go to their third choice if their first choice doesn't make it.

(with runoff voting you essentially vote 1st, 2nd, 3rd..if your first choice (say Nadar doesn't get enough votes to win, your 2nd choice (say Gore) would get your vote rather than it benefiting Bush as you would not vote your vote on a candidate with no chance of winning..you voice your true first pick (and thus show your displeasure with both the two party candidate, yet your protest vote does not help your least favorite person...we need run off voting..

Both are corrupt and probably bribed and blackmailed candidates in the higher offices...and it will stay that way unless we get paper hand counted at the precinct ballots...and stop corporate personhood and lobbyists.

email your and other representatives and ask them to cosign and support a bill introduced in the House just a week ago..HB6200 which would make all presidential election be done with hand counted at the precinct paper ballots...this is a secure, accurate, and transparent way of counting votes and may open the door for other high offices to be done this way..it is a start in taking back democracy from the corportions...so are organized boycotts..as without the vote all we have is our money..

tell your network and political blogs and message boards about HB6200..let's flood congress.

My 4 year study of vote fraud and work concerning the issue convinces me the vote doesn't count.

Because no third-party candidate has been able to raise enough money to compete with the party machinery held by the Big Two. Ross Perot got 19% of the vote, using millions of his own money. He came closest in recent memory.

To compete, you would have to have access to lots of money. But most people who have access to that kind of cash either don't WANT to run, are flakes who could never get elected, or are much happier buying the services of one of the Big Two.

Great question, I don't vote due to lack of honest candidates, nobody is worth waiting an hour for at the poles, and in a way I do believe elections have been fixed lately

Most elections do not have other parties represented on the ballot. The republicans would just label them as liberals, unless the party name is "The Most Extreme Right Wing Conservative Party", which could label the republican as liberals.

I think its sad that you feel that both parties are corrupt. Politics like all other walks of life are filled with good and bad people....my experience is that most of the people who go into politics do so to improve the way of life for others...unfortunately you seldom hear about these hard working and committed people because the press is only interested in scandal and advancing their own political agendas....Try to more open minded and study what the politicial partys stands are on issues that are most important to you.....best wishes and dont forget to vote.

Because they have ensured over the years that third parties cannot win in any national election.

Because people want to vote for a winner, or someone they think can won, rather than voting for someone who really shares their values.

Great question. I actively seek out 3rd-party candidates and encourage others to do the same.

I hate to say it... but the entire voting population on the whole tends to be a little on the naive side... hence when voting, we get what we reap...
