I personally really like how those brands fit me but I don't agree with what they are associated with. For example Abercrombie: racist discrimination in hiring employees, all white models, informally requiring female employees to show skin. I don't know how Hollister is but they are owned by Abercrombie so I assume similar.

You want the clothes to make YOU look good. You don't want the clothes to wear you.

Yeah, I read your beads. Actually, for some reason I'm fine wearing clothes that either have Puma written on it, Armani Exchange or a little polo pony, but those are my limits. They actually manage to write Puma and Armani Exchange on clothes in a tasteful and nontacky way, and polos are the original logos before mooses and eagles. I feel self conscious when I wear clothes that say those things, and kind of like a corporate whore, idk. I judge people a little on that. It's just really distasteful to advertise where you shop, especially if it's inexpensive or a store everyone else goes to.

I've never been a big fan of logo clothes or with the name written across.

I cannot stand self promoting brands.

There is a brand in UK called 'meatandcheese', who made a parody of Abercrombie t-shirts and I have 'Applecrumble and Fish' emblazoned across my chest instead.

I totally agree- I really like a lot of their clothes but the huge logo really kills it for me.

It's supposed to be a status symbol. How will anyone know you paid $30 for a worn out t-shirt if it doesn't have a name on it? ;) I understand your delima, I hate the clothing too.

Hi there: I do not mind buying brand names but it does give companies like "American Eagle" publicity. I do not think it is cheesy. However, I like to buy shirts with sayings or pictures on them and sometimes just plain.

At one time people would have rather been seen dead.
Then brand name clothes were it. I now think that you are right, it is like buying a permit to be cool.

no, it's not tacky. what's tacky is when you have a tag sticking up, or you sit down and you look like a plumber. and guys who wear their pants low to show off their boxers. the really tacky shirts are the ones that say stupid things like, "i thought it was a good idea at the time" or "my sister got lost. if you find her, don't return her." that's tacky.
