I took two years off with my first and with my second I am not planning on returning to work untill he is 6. Of course it is all unpaid, but money isn't everything!

I took 3 months off which I was very lucky to do with my job. Those 3 months go by really fast too. I thought 3 months was a good amount of time b/c my son started sleeping through the night at about 2 months old and waking up every now and again in the middle of the night after that, but every baby is different too. So, I would encourage you to take as much time as you possibly can and enjoy that time with your new baby, b/c when it is time to go back to work, you sure miss that bundle of joy. Best of luck.

I only took off 6 weeks but I was on bedrest for a month before I had my son so I didn't take off anymore because we needed the money. I think 12 weeks is what they have to allow you without pay. Some companies allow more time off and with pay. It just depends but you are allowed at least 12.

Well take as much time as you need. Some people can go back to work right away and some cant. Wait until you deliver and see how that goes. I went back to work 2 days after I got out of the hospital. I had very easy delivers though. Well good luck.

I took 12 weeks. That is what is allowed under the Family Leave Act. Your employer must keep a position open for you for that length of time off.

It all depends if you give birth to your baby normal you get 6 weeks off and if you have a c-section you get 8 weeks off.But have you considered getting another 6 weeks off its the new law here in CA don't know if where you live but you should ask if your state has bonding time off you get another 6 weeks off and you get paid.Good luck

FMLA allowed me 12 weeks off with each of my kids. 6 of those weeks were partially paid by my company's short term disability benefit. It depends on the size of the company you work for and your position within the company. You'd have to check into it to see what you qualify for.
