Yes, and with two reasons: (1) false positives, and (2) really sensitive tests. I know from the insurance industry that there are tests that can determine if you've smoked in the last year and being constantly around a big smoker can kill your chance for a good "non-smoker" rate. Some of the drug tests are similarly sensitive, but then for some drugs you've got to get it really fresh, like hours. On the bright side, the cheaper tests USUALLY (but not always) are less accurate, so you might not have a problem. But if you work for the government or some government contractors in some places like a few near Washington DC, you may have some 'splainin to do.

There is a slight possibility that you would fail the test because not all of the THC from the smoke is absorbed into the smoker's lungs and you would have been breathing in small amounts of the drug. Chances are the very small that you would fail though. (Too low of a concentration)

Yes you can fail, have you ever heard of second hand smoke? I smoke everyday and to pass the drug test you need to drink lots and lots of water to get all the THC to pass out of your system. Since it was only second hand smoke you should be fine after that. You can also go to a pharmacy store and by what is Niacins they are diet supplements non harmful take about two the day before and they will clean your system entirely of THC. Thats how I pass all of my drug tests.

Yes, there it is possible if they give a "Qualitative" test rather than the industry standard of "Quanititative."
The first only looks for markers, the second actually messures how much is in the bloodstream.
I failed one once because they gave a "Qualititative" test and I had eaten a hotdog on a poppyseed bun just two days earlier. It came back positive for Morphine class drugs. I demanded a "Quantitative" test be done on those blood samples. I regained my postition, but our relationship was forever tainted because of it.
I no longer had respect for the company after that. I left after only six months, after finding a new position elsewhere.

Yes, you can fail the test. This happened to my husband. When he told the doctor that he hadn't smoked any himself but that he had been around others that had and that it must be second hand the doctor told him that he was full of crap. He said that there was no way that this test could reflect a positive unless he had smoked it himself.
Based on the comments made from this doctor it kind of blows the second hand smoke theory out of the water. Yet, my husband hadn't smoked any.

If they boxed the car its very possible.
Drink lots of water the next 2 days ESPECIALLY for the 6 hours before the test... The idea is to keep the fluids flowing without time to gather much of a concentration of evidence. (testing after getting up in the morning might fail you)
For added protection load up on carbs the next 2 days... you want to be putting on fat (to keep your body from burning it) and releasing evidence.
(piss test only, hair you should be fine)
I doubt you will fail, anyways. But its possible.

Not likely that you would fail just because you were "around" it. I'm presuming we're talking a urine or blood test. Think about it, not much chance for it to enter your system casually. Unless, of course you were locked in a room without windows for days while Cheech and Chong supplied the entertainment! Good luck. Don't worry.

You can fail a drug test if you eat a salad or poppy seeds within 48 hours of taking the test.

Yes, there is a chance you could fail the drug test. You inhaled marijuana in an enclosed space.
Fortunately, many drug tests don't fret over marijuana. They are often more concerned with amphetamine usage.
