What interests you? Sports? Exercise? A particular movie? A tv show? Reality TV?
Whatever it is, put yourself into the starring role and follow your thoughts and feelings in that situation: the feelings you would have in advance, the fears and excitement as the event progresses, the jealousies of others toward you, the challenge & thrill of the experience, the dealing with the completion, and the aftermath.
Hmmm it sounds so interesting I'd like to do it myself!!!

This is an idea. Write about this, writers block for a contest, looking for ideas on the internet. It needs very little character development and offers you a huge plyground to have fun in as far as content and a moral is concerned. Think "You've Got Mail" and extrapolate on the computer contact to fit your current situation.

Topic: The last words
This will be a story about the last words a father spoke to his son on his death bed, a cryptic message that the son just can't seem to decipher. (throw in some filler here, about research and yadda yadda yadda) until finally at the end of the story the son realizes that the father was speaking aramaic (leanred when he worked for the foreign legion) and he spoke it because his new wife, who was in the room at the time, poisoned him. The words translate to say "She who wears my ring has done this thing."
Run with it!!

Does it have to be fictional? I think the best stories are the ones we have lived, personal experiences. Something that happened to you that was life-changing or an event or time in your life that maybe no one would really believe.
Good luck!

thjink about a time in your life where you were completely happy, that you wish you could go back to, and then write it like it had happened to someone else. the best stories are always the ones that are the most real.

First off, you need to write about something you know!!
Read any good books lately? Sometimes, they can offer insight into a good short story, a take-off, if you will.
Use you imagination.......I am sure you watch some TV., movies, etc..........come on now..........think!

My idea is for you to be yourself. Use your ideas, go wild, or conserve yourself, try both. To win the scholarship proudly you have to be your source. Good luck!
