Ohio. I've paid and received. I paid my parents when I went away and left the kids with them. They got the money on time everytime, when I fell behind they suspended my drivers license, and put it on my credit report. When I came home, my mother dropped the case and the caseworker had it removed from my credit. On receiving. I find out were the father works and call and tell they never do anything. My son is 11, the first child support payment I received in over 6 years was June 2006, I've gotten them every week since for $50. He's over 35K behind and has a felony warrant out for him but because he's paying $50 a week they're considering dropping the warrant. I think that's a load of crap I should have some say so in it. I'd rather him do the time he should be doing. You can't get a check anymore, you have to have direct deposit into your account or get one of the states debit cards and it's applied to the card.

I paid support from January, 1990 to April, 2006. On average it was $750 a month. About $145,000 paid. It was taken out of my paycheck after taxes and given to my ex tax free. She did not have to report it as income or report on how the money was spent.
I always thought it was bull sh*t that there was no accountability on how the support was spent, and the state of North Dakota would pay for her lawyer anytime she wanted to take me back to court to review my income and support liability.

Cali ... !
I filled for child support during my divorce ( Oct. 2003 ) ... had to get his wadges garnished ( Jan. 2004 ) since he wasn't paying ... that lasted 6 mths. ... haven't seen a single payment since then ... child support services told me I'm on hold status ... they're trying to find him ( he's in North Carolina ) ... blah blah blah ... I give them his address, phone #'s, family members info, lives with his mom I'm guessing .. working for cash or selling drugs ... shoot at least if he was in jail I would think they could find him easier ... !
So yeah ... haven't had too much help with it ... I heard they can take away his license and crap ... but nobody at Child Support Services has mentioned anything to me about that ... all they say is they're working on my case ... until then I work full-time and have a side job for extra cash ( cleaning ahhh hate it ... )
One child - 4 years old - courts granted me $ 334 a month and half of daycare/medical ... he can't even send a Christmas present so why should I expect $$$ to help raise her ... !

Here in Ontario, if you don't pay, say by by to your license. Then they shut down your bank account. To collect child support, some times it a red tape nightmare.
