The cruise still does not work. How do I fix this problem?

It might be a bad throttle position sensor. If it is, then it won't allow your cruise control to come on because it won't be able to maintain a constant speed. It may not have been a bad cable at all.

There is more to it than just the cable, There is a vacuum diaphragm hooked to the cable, may be faulty. May not be getting any vacuum. Check all the vacuum lines. Maybe it isn't getting electricity to the switch, maybe the switch is bad. Check all the fuses.
