Can anybody explain about hd-dvd for the X box 360?

I've seen advertisments recently for Hd-dvd add ons that can be bought for the x box 360. What exactly is being advertised here?

hd-def is like high def TV. the difference is it uses a blue lazer instread of the regular kind. its good to have if you have a high def tv with your xbox system.

It allows you to watch High Definition movies on your hi def tv. Hi Def gives you a much sharper image than regular dvd.
