We have been ttc and nothing has happened for the past 18 months. I have always know when I was ovulating because I would have sharp pains on one side coming from whichever ovary was producing at the time. But even being able to tell when ovulation was occuring never helped.
We have now been seeing an FE and they told us that you can go by when your body is in pain and possibly producing, and that would be a good time to have sex,(personally when I had ovulatory pain, the last thing I wanted to do was to have sex!) but the best thing to do is trust your basil body temp, and watch your curvical fluid.
I am only 25, and I have endometriosis, so my case may be very different from yours, so trust what you believe, and a dr's recommendations. They can help.

I had ovulation pain until I got my IUD. Not sure if you can use that as a fertile sign or not. My guess you would have to do it a few days before you feel the pain. (hard to do I know)
