Yes you can...I know what you are talking about... There has been some research saying that lower back tattoos can affect an epidural. They apparently (for a very few) make the epidural less effective.
Also FYI....Epidurals are not completely effective if you have back labour. You will still feel pain.

yes you can .tatoos have nothing to do with epidurals .but i will tell you the nurse deads your back and then puts the epidural in but after it is in and is flowing in your system in most people it works but some it does'nt .but when they put it in you you are dead from waistline down.sometimes in different people it makes you itch all over but not everyone it did my second baby .my first one which was stillborn i had everything the pain shots epidural.they will induce labor if you are not in full labor and that hurts just as bad i went to 7 cm before i got one but usually they won't let you go past 4 but speak up or you can get it too late and you will feel the ring of fire then.i have had a vaginal birth and c section use my advice get the epidural

The epidural don't go into your lower back its more mid back. The tattoo will be fine.

Enjoy your baby.

I dont see why not? And actually the epidural does not go into the lower back, but more towards the middle.

Of course you can - I've had 2 epidurals with a tatoo on my lower back. It's just a small needle - you'll never be able to see where it was.
