Our four month old baby, who is breastfed, is so gassy and it stinks so bad! We give her Mylicon (gas drops for infants) I don't drink milk, or eat eggs, drink anything with caffiene, spicy foods, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, peanut butter, or beans because they can make your infant gassy. What else can we do, I plan on talking to her ped iatrician next week about it because she gets fussy from it and you can actually feel her stomach gurgling. Help, it stinks so bad!!!

Although my son is not breastfed, I delt with the same problem. I had to switch formula's but in your case i'll tell you what the doctor told me. A gassy baby should sleep on their stomach, only if they are able to lift their head and roll to one side. Other wise the baby should sleep on it's left side. He told me that this will allow the food to digest better. Finally, If your feeding your baby during the day try to have the baby stand (if you have a saucer chair it helps) and the doctor said that is good for about 15 minutes after they eat so the food can digest. Good Luck

My little guy is the same -- though it has eased in the past few weeks. I found that giving up milk, eggs, caffeine, spicy and other gas causing foods did not help and besides, many gassy foods are GOOD for you. Will you refuse to feed your toddler vegetables because they will give him gas? Eventually, your baby will get better at dealing with the gas as he becomes more mobile.

When my son is particularly gassy and finds it hard to sleep I walk him around with my palm on his belly and his head/shoulder in the elbow-crook of my arm. My mother will put him down on his belly to sleep. Though it is most definitely NOT a recommended sleep position (and I tend to yell at her for it), it helps.

Think about the positives. Take her to places that are overly crowded. That will help clear your pathway. The methane might also prove useful for starting campfires. Simply situate her butt near the kindling, and when she lets one fly, light the match. Voila!

First answer sounds good. You need to Burp her often also when she feeding. It will help a little. My son was Breastfed and was very seldom sick, you do a good thing and I am proud of you.

She just has poop in there that is lowering and pushing out air. The reason is stinks is because it's air that is sitting in there with her poop. When it gets pushed out, the poop lowers and she gets closer to having a dirty diaper. Okay, gross I know, but seriously that's what it is.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO BURB BABY IN BETWEEN THE FEEDING. LET THE BABY EAT LIKE HALF THE TIME. THEN BURP. THEN FEED SOME MORE AND BE SURE TO BURP AGAIN. THE BABY COULD BE SUCKING IN A LITTLE AIR WHILE FEEDING.
