Well, with my family, my parents would be happy to get the kids out of the house for their anniversary. I'm assuming this might be a big anniversary, such as 20, 25, or what not, and you feel you need to go to whatever party they might be having. If this is the case, have your date come with you to their party for dinner before going to Homecoming. Homecoming isn't as big of a dance as prom, and I am sure he wouldn't mind getting free food at a party.
As fo you not liking him pay for you, why not offer to pay for yourself or even for the both of you? I am sure the guy would love the treat as he probably spend money buying you flowers for the occasion and buying a new shirt or something.
The most important thing to keep in mind is to have fun.

Anniversaries are for a married couple to spend time together, not with their children. Go on the double date for dinner with your friends, then go to the dance. Let the guy pay for you, this won't happen too often as you get older. It's not like you're taking advantage of him, it's a date, if you would like to pay for 1/2, offer the money, if he wants to take care of it, let him. And wish your parents a Happy Anniversary (along with a small gift) and let them go out, just the two of them, when you have kids, there aren't too many opportunities for parents to go out together....alone. Have a good time!

go to the dance and then have your date eat dinner with you and your parents. if you eat at home you wont have to pay and if you go out somewhere you could pay for your parents and him because its your parents anniversary. and if you dont want to bring your date with you then talk to your parents and see if they mind you not being there on their anniversary. my parents usually like to go out by themselves without the kids on their anniversary. if you really feel that bad about your date paying for you then just let him do it for that night, then buy him a gift in return. that way you wont feel like he did something nice for you and you didnt do anything for him.

Just go on your date. If you don't want him to pay, just pay for yourself - what's the big deal?
Why do you need to be with your parents on their anniversary? They probably would enjoy a night alone anyway.

Excuse my ignorance, I am English after all!LOL
Why can't you pay for yourself?
I'm sure your parents will understand if you miss the dinner I bet they did the same when they were young.

Is it an important Anniversary? If not, Home coming sounds more important. As for your boyfriend paying. Let him, you may actually give him happiness by allowing him to buy for you.
