A reputable Breeder will have it spayed or nuetered already...do not buy one without a spayed/nuetered certificate..if they say it's not necessary, run the other way!
They are easily potty trained....you can use Kitty Litter. And they love to play. A Ferret will relax you, they enjoy cuddling. Just make sure you allow it time to learn the sorroundings.
Good Luck!

Before you get a ferret, you need to figure out if this is the pet for you. Ferrets are ALOT of work. Their cage needs to be cleaned almost daily or it will smell. You need to let them out for exercise daily as well. They need a lot of attention!
You will need a cage that isn't too small, and those can be expensive, but I'm sure you can find one that isn't too pricey. He will need at least two beds to sleep in (1 1/2 per ferret). You can just use wood shavings at the bottom of the cage for substrate. You can find huge bags of wood shavings for about $5 at ranch supply stores. You can also get a corner litter box that attaches to the cage and put it where he goes to the bathroom the most, and he should start going in there all the time, making it easier to clean up after him. Just put kitty litter in there. He needs to have a water bottle, with new water every day. Don't buy any expensive ferret food, you can just feed him cat chow. If you go to Petco, there are a lot of fun things there you can buy for him, but just the ferret will be about $120. Also, get some toys for him. They love to play!
Good luck and have fun with your ferret!

You might want to consider pet rats. They're fun and big enough to handle and have sit in your lap.
I would save more than $200. A good ferret cage may cost half of that and a good ferret will take up the other half. You'll also need $ for toys, food, vet visits, and other care.
Be sure to get your new pet from a good breeder!

Ferrets may look cute but they are loads of trouble.
1. THEY STINK- even if you have their sent glands remove, they still stink no matter how many times you wash them. WITH their sent glands, your room and everything you own will smell like urine.
2. THEY ESCAPE- Theyre dificult to keep under lock and key. My brother paid $100 for his and it escaped during the winter outside and died.
3. THEY BITE- Ferrets have an irresistable urge to chew on your feet and they can be pretty bad biters. Also if you have a hamster you can kiss that thing goodbye if the ferret ever gets around him. My brother started out with 5 hamsters and within a month, all of them got eaten up.
4. THEYRE MEAN- No matter how nice I was to my brother ferret, that thingwas incapable of developing a relationship with us like our cats did. It was mean all the time, pissed on our floor, and would bite us any chance it got.
If you insist on getting one you need a real good cage and bowl for its water and it eats cat food (or your hamsters). But I highly recommend going with a dog or cat, ferrets do not make good friendly bonding pets.

ferrets are not the type of pet that will cuddle with you! they are very hyper active and should have a large enough cage to play in! they easily get into things and can slip themselves in tight places. They also smell really bad u would need to bathe the ferret as much as possible and keep there cage clean! the ammonia in there poo is very harmful!

you need to "Escape proof" your place. Ferrets aren't like cats, they love to escape, and they don't come back because of loyalty, once they are gone, they are gone.
