2 days before I felt a bit "odd" cant explain it, a little bit ill maybe. 1 day before manic cleaning session, loads of energy, felt the best I had throughout my pregnancy.
3 oclock in morning got out of bed to go to loo and waters broke, then contractions started.
this was exactly the same in all 3 of my pregnancies. All of them started at 3am.

Labour is different for every woman, and pinpointing when it begins is not really possible. It's more of a process than a single event, when a number of physiological changes in your body work together to help deliver a baby. If you're truly in labour, one or more of the following five things will happen:

• Your cervix will become progressively thinner and softer (also called effacement) and dilated -- up to 10 centimetres.

• Contractions occur at regular and increasingly shorter intervals and become longer and stronger in intensity.

• You may have persistent lower back pain, often accompanied by a crampy premenstrual feeling.

• You may notice the appearance of a bloody show (a brownish or blood-tinged mucus discharge). If you pass the mucus plug that blocks the cervix, labour could be imminent -- or it could be several days away. Still, it's a sign that things are moving along.

• Your waters break, but only if it's accompanied by contractions

My first was induced, so I don't count that. With my second, I started feeling crampy(felt a lot like menstrual cramps) and I even had a little blood, just a little bit of pink. I was able to sleep thru this for a few more hours and then my water broke.I didn't know that it was labor starting though because when I was induced the first time I pretty much went from nothing to hard labor so I didn't have the beginning stuff.

OK, the night before I felt really rough, like that early pregnancy tiredness and nausea and general wretchedness. Then in the middle of the night the cat jumped on my bed and a bit of mild pain kicked in. By 8am I realised that the gipping agony was indeed labour. And my waters didn't break until the last minute :-)

38 WEEKS ! wow you are very close to deliver. Good luck
I just had a baby 2 months ago. I was feeling little thightenings ( like someone hugging me) You might have back pain. I remember , I felt so good the day before my delivery.
They say to take a bath and see if the contractions stop or if they keep on going. I don't think you should wait until you really feel the contractions and they are very strong. Remember, its your 3rd one... you might go very fast. You need to be in the hospital.

I've got three kids and didn't have any signs with any of them. It just started with the contractions. Think Braxton Hicks contractions may have got stronger though. Oh and a overwhelming compulsion to have perfect hair while in labour!! Why I have no idea!

my wife had our third child five years after the last one so she thought she would forget the signs, she had lots of tightnings during the last four weeks but felt fine.the day my youngest was born,my wife felt that something just didnt feel right, she called her midwife even though she wasnt in any pain, and was told she was in labour.we had a daughter seven hours later.

my wife says, trust your body and do what your instict tells you. nine times out of ten...you will be right. good luck with the new edition and get some sleep while you can..

In my 2nd & last pregnancy i was 4 days overdue. Then started getting aching pains in my stomach, starting off gentle & getting more intense after a few hours.
these started at 6pm, i was able to carry on having dinner, watching tv & done all the ironing !
Then went into hospital.
Waters didn't break until 20 mins before baby exiting !
Good Luck, it will all come back to you !

I had no warning I was going into labor - no contractions nothing. Two hours after I went to bed I woke up in a soaking bed (my husband that I had peed in the bed). Thats when I had my first contraction, less than 7 1/2 hours later I had my son.
