-18. just ignore the - sign for a moment and put the 2 together which equals18 then return the - sign in front of the 18. But if the equation is -9+9 as stated in writing the answer is 0. But-9-9 does =-18

The answer is -18. If you lack 9 of something and then take away 9 more, you're in the hole 18.

If you enter it into the calculator as -9 - + 9, then of course it's going to show zero because when you enter - and then + before the second 9, the calculator thinks that you changed your mind and that instead of subtracting 9, you want to add 9. Don't enter a + to designate a positive number on a calculator. They don't work that way.

I know if it was -9 - -9 it would be -18 but since it's -9 minus 9 the answer is 0 because minus nine would be just -9 and then 9 would make it zero unless it's -9 I'm confused.

on second thought it is definately -18 because -9 - 9 is the same as 9 + 9 = 18 therefore -9 - 9 equals -18

The answer is -18 the reason being is because if you have plus a negative like -9 minus a positive 9 the minus then makes it a negative answer therefor making it -9-9 and the answer is -18 because if you have -9 and u subtract 9 more u have -18.

The correct answer is -18

If you think of it as addition you have -9 + -9, or -18 Remember 5-3 can be written as 5 + -3.

Using the number line, and thinking of it as -9 - +9, start at zero, and go to the left (the negative direction) 9 units. Now you want to subtract 9 . If you wanted to add 9 you would go to the right, but you want to subtract, so go the left 9 units, and you'll be at
-18.

As to the calculator, if I enter -9-9 it does come to be -18
