We have cattle. They usually begin being born in September and go through February. I have spent many a Christmas Eve in the barn with momma cows in labor.

Most Ranchers try to have them born in the Spring. This way the little one is bigger and stronger by winter time. Some cows may have their babies in the fall which is not as desirable, so, they usually sold to someone just wanting a cow and calf to raise, or, sadly they sold at Auction and become "Big Macs".

most ranches try to calve in the spring, the month depends on what part of the country you are in and how long you winter is. in colorado our winters were usually long so we tried to get our calves on the ground the start of april thru may so they can be big enough to go to market come fall time and to make sure all the bad weather was past, sometimes we had ones born in feb. and march so we went to sychronizing them so they would calve pretty much the same months.... in other parts of the country some calve anywhere from jan. to april and some people have calves born in the fall, it really depends on the ranch, the weather and the market and is pretty much a personal choice too..we now are in arizona and the ranches here calve a little different in some areas because of the warmer weather, it is not uncommon to see babies at different times of the year...but most of your ranches everywhere try to calve in the spring months...hope this helps..
