Verifi if your speakers are puged in the computer and that the drivers for your audio device are installed. The drivers are found on your sound card CD or on your motherboard CD if you have the sound card ombedded on the motherboard. Good luck!

XP will automatically find and install drivers for all components plugged into your system unless a component is not compatiable with XP. Most likely there is nothing you can do to make that sound card work. if you have check all your connections and everything is on. Sorry but what you need to do is purchase a new sound card, one that is compatible with XP. This is a very common problem when upgrading an older computer to a newer OS like XP. The same thing happened to my sister when she upgraded to XP her sound card didn't work either.

Software for sound installed? If the sound port is directly attached to the motherboard (no removable card) than you need to install the sound drivers for the motherboard. If you do not have the CD then find out what kind of motherboard it is and search for drivers using that info.
If the sound card is removeable, install software drivers from CD. If no CD find out what kind of soundcard it is, and go to that manufacturers website.
If there is no little "speaker" symbol near the clock, the drivers are probably not installed. If you have the speaker symbol, double click on it....is the master sound bar turned up or is mute on.

do you have speakers? Make sure they are plugged in to the correct port.
Still no sound? Check to see if the volume control is muted.
Not muted and still no sound? Did your computer come with a sound card? Is it turned on?
If it has a sound card, are the drivers installed?
If it has a soundcard and the drivers are installed and still no sound from your speakers, then you will need to have a tech person do a diagnostic.

Happens to me when I reformat too. I solved this by re-installing Windows again, yes again. When I was installing my copy of Windows (XP) the sound drivers and some other important programs and drivers did not properly load. In the middle of the install did it ask you to restart while installing drivers? For example, when i was installing I want to say 50 drivers it asked me to restart my computer and it automatically restarted, this lead to my sound problem. You can also try contacting a local repair man.

first u must have the sound driver. then try going to the device manager and oin the question mark sign u will see something like sudio controller right click and click update driver. after that show thw path of ur sound driver. if you dont have the driver the see if it is available in the companys websie. if not then use a driver searcher. dont worri after you do this you can fix sound problems in any computer. no one can learn anything unless they spoil something. i think i spoiled my pc like 30 times haha. and now dont need any people to fix my software promlems. ok good luck for fixing ur sound.

hello
1st of all is your sound card built-in ?
if so you must check if your sound card is enabled from the BIOS menu .. thats when you boot your computer and it tells you to hit DEL or F2 to enter SETUP.
go to chipset configuration
and check it from there.. and boot into windows .. install the sound card driver..
here's a helpfull site for drivers .. use my login and password ;)

try using the start button, then click the control panel, sounds and audio devices then make sure the mute button isn't checked. Hope it helps, also if you have speakers, make sure they are securely plugged into the pc.

Your best bet would be to check all the sound settings over again. Make sure the speakers themselves work...Wish I could help more!
