try this:
Lay a towel down on your bed or carpet. Get a dropper and 3% hydrogen peroxide (regular drug store bottle kind). Lay your head down and use the dropper to fill your ear with hydrogen peroxide. After a few minutes you will hear fizzing (normal). Wait a minute or two and then add more hydrogen peroxide. Wait, relax and after another few minutes add more. The hydrogen will continue to fizz. Continue to do this for 10 to 15 minutes, until there is no longer fizzing when you add the peroxide. This means it has dissolved all the wax in your ear. Turn your head over and allow it to run out on the towell for a minute. Take your dropper to the sink. Rinse and fill with water. Rinse the ear out with water, a few time. If you have a "water-pic" you can use that on the very lowest (gentlest) setting to rinse the ear as you hang over the sink.
This should help get rid of the wax build up. Sometimes wax build up can cause pain or get lodged if you stick a Q tip in there to try and get it out.
This works. I had something like this happen to me one time. I did an online search for a home remedy and this is what I found. I tried it and it worked great. My ear felt a little funny for the next 30 minutes or so, but after that it felt great. If I ever have this happen again, this is what I will do again.

I have had the clogging feeling in one ear for about 6 years after being really sick. It does not ever go away. I have been to an ENT doctor and nothing. I demanded that someone give me a MRI to rule out anything else. Nothing. I even went to a dentist thinking that perhaps a sideways moler could be the culprit.

6 years and counting.
Sorry.

Try using a hair dryer. I know it sounds weird but the heat and moving air may help to dry up some of the moisture in your ear. This works for me also when I have an ear ache. Good Luck!

Try using an ear candle. You can find them at GNC now. They clean out your ear. Just remember to put a little bit of oil in so it isn't too dry. Also try taking an antihistamine. It could be allergies. I know I have them BAD right now.

ive had crazy ear problems in my life. sounds like you have a middle ear infection which doctors can't see most of the time. most gp's are retarded when it comes to ear problems. try taking amoxicillin for 10 days or so.. might clear it up. see a doc to get the prescription and dont forget to take acidophillus while you're on it to keep good bacteria in your intestines.

You may need to take a decongestant like Sudafed for a few days, it sounds like you have fluid behind the eardrum from allergies or something.
