I am surprised that a tennis player of your stature (as told right here) does not know the rules and regulations of tournaments. You can play at any age in any of the tournaments (except under 19,16 or veterens). Visit the websites of different tournaments. The guys who told you to coach are jealous of you. Stay away from them to maintain right frame of mind. Concentrate on your game.
You know Martina Navratilova won the mixed doubles at the age of 49.

You are definately not overage. You just need to have determination. Look at Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graff, Andre Agassi all played when they were aged above 30+. Don loose heart, play hard and you can do it.

Playing doubles is very different than singles. A lot of older players still play doubles.

It is much harder at 21 because that is considered your "peak". After 21, people get plagued with injuries.

Don't let it stop you, keep going!

last time i checked 22-year olds were men, not boys..anyways what really matters is if you have is talent, if you've been playing for a while then i think you should build up on whatever skills you have right now...its probably not too late

age isnt the limit bcos martina did play tennis at 40+ yrs so it is the will that is required go ahead and try for it,bcos even if you fail atleast you will have the satisfaction of having tried,if dont try then later in your old age you may curse yourself for not having tried.
