If they did the same mileage as a normal road car, then they would pollute more, however as they only do a few thousand miles a year any pollution they do contribute is negligible.

I AM ROCK is yet again wrong about the engines - they are normally aspirated, no turbos (as he claimed a few days ago), no superchargers!

Probably more. However, I suspect the cars in the 90's, running with that foul-smelling exotic fuel, were really guilty of polluting the atmosphere. Anything that emitted such an odor must have been a real pollutant.

Formula 1 cars are more polluting than average cars - per car. But there are so few F1 cars compared to normal cars that overall normal cars produce far more pollution

The more the fuel burnt more is the exhaust and pollution. It is a supercharged engine, it obviously has more exhaust gases. Since the number of car is very few the pollution done by these car hardly matters.

Probably more polluting because they use more fuel. But there are only 22 of them, so the total pollution is negligable.

No, race cars lack pollution controls generally. They rob performance.

Most of the answers are right as far as they pollute more for a variety of reasons including high RPM and no smog equipment; but I am rock is wrong when he says they are supercharged.

although the burn is 50times more, in my opinion they are polluting less due to the fact that thier fuels are product of extensive research, just like what shell is doing, faster fuel for cleaner air.....and if f1 cars are polluting more, i think there be sactions on FIA regarding the matter in countries where they held thier races.

Pre car mile traveled they are polluting far more because they get worse gas mileage (about 3mpg) and don't use mufflers or catalyitc converters.

definitely more polluting. they burn more fuel then regular cars and they are more noisy, so they are the source of different types of pollution
