I know they calculate bss 1gb = 1.048.576bytes but even like that a 60gb drive should have minimum 57,22gb (60/1,048576).

not just i-pods,anything that has a hard drive will never have the full amount of drive space as it says on the package.reason is the drive also as 2 hold the program info itself, meaning the program chip that tells the i-pod 2 import/export music play, pause and stop has 2 have its space 2,and if it didn't,no i-pod.remember people computers are like people with 1 flaw, they can't make desicions on their own,we will always have 2 tell it what 2 do in order 4 it 2 operate, thats what a program is and does, unless ur dealing with A.I technology, which is still a program just able 2 do some things on it's own without our help.also 2 ur calulation under ur question,a GB is a GB just like a LB is an LB,wither it's an LB of corn or an LB of apples it's still an LB.

holla!

It is normal. I have a 30GB iPod video, but it really has just 27.5GB available for music, videos, etc. I guess this is because of the software that the iPod needs to function properly.

That seems like false advertising to me. Although my computer hard drive does the same thing. But not 4G!
