Well, one thing to realize in ASL is that many synonyms share one sign. There is not a sign for every word that exists.
The best approach for a complex word such as "abide" is to find out what it means and choose the most similar, simpler word for it.
If nothing can be found, then you fingerspell it.

with that said, I looked up Abide at www.m-w.com:
Text: 1 to continue to be in a place for a significant amount of time -- see STAY 1
2 to have a home -- see LIVE 1
3 to put up with (something painful or difficult) -- see BEAR 2

Stay, live, or bear (as in bear a burden=SUFFER)

Depends if you need just one word definition.
Mostly I look at the meaning of the whole sentence.
ex: "Abide in my parent's home" I would use "live", but "Abide in God's kingdom" live is too trivial; I would want a word which showed the connectedness or the permanency: so maybe "stay-close" or "continue'+ 'forever".
