I believe so; I have many many nice-nice conservative friends (who tolerate me 'cause they love me!) and at the beginning they thought Bush was the greatest and even thought me traitorous . Now as their Christian belief systems and their sense of decency have been violated, they are shell shocked.
The deaths of our troops and the thousands of innocents has not only made some people more calloused, it has unhinged many who were on the brink of insanity anyway.
Bush and his spin doctors have established an unending cycle of terror here, terror there. Our young people know that we are condoning torture and supplied bombs to kill Lebanese civilians. They know that our government is full of conniving and deceit, some of their parents sanction it .
Our mealy mouth pseudo pious President condemns stem cell research and pro choice while he blows children to bits. He stops birth control supplies and information in countries where there are millions of children & infants dieing because they are starving or the infants are born with aids to a brief life of agony.

Take your pick, go cry over the few unhinged child killers, and a few disgusting sex acts; then look at our murderous Government and their crimes against decency & humanity.
The climate is right for evil, from the top down.

What's the end of your question supposed to be? "...some of the craziness happening on a..." On a what? On a national level... On a Japanese television show... On a much too frequent basis... On a commercial I saw last night? Finish the question for us so we can have some serious answers suggested.

With respect to Veda's answer, Yeah! She's right, whatever your question turns out to be the answer is "It's Clinton's fault!" As she said, Clinton's behavior was condoned by everyone (except for that pesky little impeachment thing), and I'm sure Mark Foley was a fine upstanding heterosexual man who's mind was somehow twisted, and who was some how driven, against his will, to try to have sex with underage boys, because his country's leader, Bill Clinton was getting oral sex from Monica. Yeah! that's the ticket, Bill Clinton, he's to blame! We all know Bill's tete-a-tete with Monica is the reason the terrorists attacked the world trade center... those buildings reminded them too much of Bill. Can we pin Columbine, Platte Canyon, Enron, Worldcom, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, and Ralph Reed on old Slick Willie too...that would be GREAT! I am pretty sure I heard that truck driver who killed those Amish kids in PA was a Democrat and while I don't have any concrete proof yet, I'm willing to bet he was somehow under the Clinton spell too. Good Lord! The way some people's minds work just baffles me.

The climate was created and glorified with the Clinton administration . Under President Clinton , we saw sex crimes as well as escapades BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES , condoned by everyone around the president -and then if that wasn't bad enough- President Clinton pardoned Congressman Mel Reynolds , a man CONVICTED of 16 counts of sexual assault with underage girls ..among other crimes. If that didn't create the climate , what did ?
