Uh, just where did you dredge up this bizarre concept that we believe that God protects us or that He controls everything?
1. God will preserve our souls if we cleave to Him. Our corporeal forms are subject to the vagaries of life. There is no place in the Bible or Christian religions where God said that he'd protect our physical selves.
2. 'God controls everything' is false. He may omniscient and omnipotent and omnipresent, but He has given us free will - thus He does not control our actions - we are responsible for our actions. Free will is a very fundamental aspect of Judeo-Christian belief.
3. As for guns, they help us protect ourselves from the predators, the Godless, the bad people. This is not the domain of God, but that of Man - the material world. We would surely be remiss if we failed in our duty to protect our families, friends and neighbors and the innocent.
4. God is the answer to our spiritual needs. But it is our duty to our Lord to make the world a better place. As He died to make men holy, Let us die to make men free. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
It is painfully obvious you have no clue about the nature of God or our relationship to him or our beliefs. I also noticed that not knowing a thing doesn't stop you from self-righteously spouting off.

Wow, you don't know much about God at all. God controls nothing, and can control everything. He gave us all "free will". Cool life, stop trying to spread hatred, otherwise, your god might need to protect you

Do yourself a favor and read the Bible.. It can't hurt.. God watches over all people , even atheist like yourself... We are not Gods puppets but people with free will .. God gave us the rules , its up to us to play the game.. So, do you play offense or defense...

That's not the Christian religion, except in a small amount of believers.
Most Christians believe, I think, that God helps those who help themselves.
I do think that the devil, if there is one, always protected and took care of Clinton.
