The reason is purely to do with the line of the clothing when worn. If you want ot look slimmer, wear things with vertical narrow stripes. The solution is to lose weight. Sorry.

There are several factors that go into that. First is the cut of the dress in the area. The wrong cut can cause parts of the anatomy to appear larger or smaller than they actually are. Second is the color scheme, some colors, patterns or combinations of color will simply bring attention to the shape of the aforementioned bum. Another factor is the material the dress is made out of, some materials cling in such a way as to give the illusin of having a huge bum. Also the weight of the paterial plays a part as if it as a heavier material it will pull the dreess tight agianst the body.
The only real solution is to simply make certain that when you try on outfits they have the proper fit, color, pattern and material. From there try to stay with things that are in that same veign. It makes finding clothes a bit harder (I have the same problem with my belly), but it is well worth the effort.

Hi ellen_s, Have you ever watched the TV show "What not to wear"? They give a lot of practical/informative advice. The people they do the "makeover" on are of all shapes and sizes. Also, I would take your beautiful dress to a professional seamstress/alterer and see if they can re-structure (for better lack of a word!) so it won't "stay in your closet" and finally get's to make it's long overdue...Grand Introduction! XOXO Moonpie

Well you see a bitter irony to life is that often nice looking dresses are just not meant for woman with larger derriers. So there are two ways you can fix the problem, first you can exercise until your bottom is the desired size or you can embrace your larger posterior and flaunt it.
Hope that helps.

It must be the style of skirt you are choosing, often skirts with a puffed out effect, will make your bum look bigger.

If your asss is too big for the dress, your should not wear it. An important component in any good look is a mirror to check all angles. If you think it makes your asss look big, others will also notice.
