I once heard that is not that important what happens to you but how you react to it that is important.

Life is not always easy. You just need to make adjustments as you move along and not take everything so personally. Get out and find some hobbies or interests that are fun. Life is what you make it.

If it takes you more than most people you know to be happy, then it's your genes fault; but it is natural. Remember what you learned in class about "natural selection"? Well, we are wired to want, be, and get the best, but it is also true that some people have it them in less intensity. But don't worry because you don't have to live by your genes drives.

You can learn to be happy with anything (it has it's pros and cons). The way you were raised either taught you to be happy with only "the best", or it intensified that drive. So you can teach yourself to be happy with anything; the best is to learn to be happy "in the middle": don't be happy with the best, nor the worst, but something in the middle.

I recommend you read a little (or a lot, or in between) about Buddhism.

You are trying to hard to be happy or you are just thinking too hard. You are most likely a little stressed or anxious right now and don't even notice. Think of happy and then do the first thing that comes to mind, disregarding all other things that are going around you. "Go with the flow"

I honestly don't think it takes too much. If we learn how to enjoy the simple things in life and do not based our necessities on how much the neighbor has, but what we really need, being happy is actually simple.

True Happiness is found in the heart of the child who discovers the simple joy of life.

Happiness is hidden within the simple things - the gifts of life that God has already given to us..

Beginning with God Himself and all that proceeds forth from Him...

When you are restored to God, your are in harmony with Him (the Source of Life) and all invisible eternal things (around you) that expresses all harmonious things that are experienced and seen.

Sounds like a personal problem. I'm pretty happy with the basics. You may want to refocus your life on what's really important.

it doesn't take too much to be happy...it's that you don't know what happiness is and you seek it in ways that will never be fulfilled. think realistically: simplicity is the only way to find happiness...
